Sunday, 27 January, saw the Screen Actor Guild (SAG) hand out its iconic nude male figure, mostly referred to as ‘The Actor’, to outstanding performers of the season in both the small and big screen. The Ben Affleck-directed hostage-crisis film ‘Argo‘ once again took top honours at the SAG Awards, further positioning itself as a strong contender for ‘Best Picture’ at the Oscars. The 19th Annual SAG Awards also recognized Jennifer Lawrence, Claire Danes, Daniel Day-Lewis and more.

On Sunday night (13 January), it was the turn of the 90+ members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) to make their top selections in television and film excellence at the 70th Annual Golden Globes. Actor-turned-filmmaker Ben Affleck was once again the top pick of the night, snagging both ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Picture (Drama)’ for his masterpiece ‘Argo‘.
