The Hollywood Reporter kicks off the 2012-13 award season with seven female Oscar contenders gracing the cover of their latest issue.
Making the list are Sally Field (Lincoln), Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables), Helen Hunt (The Sessions), Amy Adams (The Master), Naomi Watts (The Impossible), Marion Cotillard (Rust and Bone) and Rachel Weisz (The Deep Blue Sea). Crop-haired Hathaway looks beautiful in a longsleeve Marchesa gown, while French goddess Marion Cotillard dons a Lanvin one-shoulder dress and Weisz stuns in Roland Mouret.
Interesting to note that four of the ladies already have an Oscar win under their belt — Cotillard, Hunt, Weisz and Field (two). The Oscars have also shown plenty of love to the remaining ladies, with Adams having three nominations to her name and both Hathaway and Watts each securing one past nod. At the moment, Weisz’s chances at a nod are slim-to-none. Hathaway is the favourite in the ‘Supporting’ category even though ‘Les’ is still to be screened. Adams is pretty much getting her fourth nomination in the ‘Supporting’ category, making her Hathaway’s strongest competitor. Field could possible clinch her third win, breaking a record to become the first performer to go 3 for 3. Surprising that THR snubbed ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘ starlet Jennifer Lawrence, since she’s the frontrunner in the ‘Best Actress’ race, meaning she could possibly upset Cotillard’s chances at winning her second statue.
