The 17th Annual Critics Choice Awards were held last night (12 January). If they are anything to go by, it seems the odds in leading to the 2012 Oscars are in favour of ‘The Help‘ stars Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer, who both took home ‘Best Actress’ and ‘Best Supporting Actress’ respectively. As it was expected ‘The Descendants‘ actor George Clooney scoped ‘Best Actor’. Michel Hazanavicius’s ‘The Artist’ took ‘Best Picture’, winning him ‘Best Director’ in the process.
Elsewhere on the grey carpet, everyone went all out, giving us the first really exciting ‘red carpet’ event of the year. While the night was dominated by a lot of black, some stars still opted for a splash of beautiful colour. Head below for all the fashion.
Diane Kruger stole the night in this Prada yellow and light blue chiffon halter neck gown.
‘The Help’ actress Jessica Chastain looked beautiful in a Balenciaga pink halter dress.
‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ starlet Elizabeth Olsen showed some sexy leg in a Pucci yellow beaded little number.

Blue-eyed actress Kirsten Dunst has scored the cover of the January Issue of Lucky magazine.
The ‘Melancholia‘ star wears a bright smile on her face as she strikes a pose under the lens of James White in a chic Miu Miu ensemble.
Kirsten tells the magazine about her hatred for taking red carpet photos.
“I hate red-carpet photographs! It’s such flat lighting! They take away my cheekbones — I just become a moonface. I hate those photos so much. I always look terrible. And they don’t know angles on faces. There is no artistry to it”, Kirsten explains to Lucky.

‘True Blood’ hottie Alexander Skarsgard graces the cover of the November issue of US gay lifestyle/fashion magazine Out.
Promoting his latest apocalyptic film ‘Melancholia’, co-starring Kirsten Dunst, the 35-year-old covers his one eye on the black and white Matthew Kristall-shot cover.
The Swedish actor together with fellow Swede and Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” music video — which featured a then unknown Alexander — director Jonas Akerlund sit down with the magazine for an exclusive interview, where they talk about how their country is dominating Hollywood at present.
Here are some highlights from Alexander’s interview:
ON DOING NUDE SCENES: “I notice in interviews in the U.S. all people want to talk about is nudity. You have a half-hour interview, and you spend 25 minutes talking about the nude scenes, and of course, if it makes sense as a scene, I’ll do it”.
ON WHY THE SWEDES ARE SO LIBERAL AND OPEN WITH THEIR SEXUALITY: “And that’s also why we’re so liberal and so cool with our sexuality — because we fuck a lot [laughter]… When you’re bored, just have sex”.
ON HOW ‘TRUE BLOOD’ IS VIEWED IN SWEDEN: “Very tame, very tame, by Swedish standards”.

Actress Kirsten Dunst looks almost unrecognizable as she sports heavy platinum blond hair, with a fringe, on the cover of the November issue of Canadian fashion magazine Flare.
The 29-year-old, who’s blonde hairdo gives her an uncanny resemblance to Hollywood actress Michelle Pfeiffer, strikes a chic pose in a Giambattista Valli dress with a peplum skirt.
The ‘Melancholia’ star opens up to the magazine about her experience in dealing with depression in the past.
“People are embarrassed to talk about it. I would never put anyone down [who] was in that kind of space…I think most human beings go through some sort of depression in their life. And if they don’t, I think that’s weird”, Kirsten explains to Flare.
