Hollywood A-Listers came out in big numbers last night (07 May), all in the name of fashion, to celebrate the 2012 Costume Institute Gala (Met Ball). Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the event was co-chaired by British actress Carey Mulligan, designer Miuccia Prada, and US Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. This year’s event honoured Prada and late Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli.
Checkout all the fashion below:
Carey Mulligan, with her chic crop, shines in a gold/silver Prada paillette dress.
The devil really does wear Prada. Anna Wintour ditched Chanel for this year’s event, and went for a white Prada gown, with a gold lobster applique — an homage to Schiaparelli perhaps.
‘Video Games‘ singer Lana Del Rey looked dark and vampy in a silver sequin dress, with a cape, by Joseph Altuzarra.

The 21-year-old sports a gorgeous glow on her face on the Alexei Hay-shot cover and wears a sparkling gold Elie Tahari top.
‘The Hunger Games‘ beauty shares with the magazine her secrets on how she keeps fit.
“I hate saying, ‘I like exercising’. I want to punch people who say that in the face. But it’s nice being in shape for a movie, because they basically do it all for you. It’s like, ‘Here’s your trainer. This is what you can eat’.”, Jennifer points out to Glamour.

As award season sadly drew to an end, all roads led to the Kodak Theatre in California for the 84th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday (26 February). Legendary actress Meryl Streep finally broke her 30-year curse on the night, by winning her 3rd Oscar for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in ‘The Iron Lady‘. But it was silent film ‘The Artist‘ which made history by becoming only the first silent film to win ‘Best Picture’, since the ‘Wings’ did so during the awards’ inception 83 years ago. ‘The Artist’ also won Michel Hazanavicius ‘Best Director’ and French heartthrob Jean Dujardin ‘Best Actor.
In true Oscar style, the red carpet did not disappoint, many stars dared to take risks. Head below to checkout if those risks worked in their favour or against:
Glenn Close showed some cleavege in a Zac Posen strapless gown, but kept it age appropriate with a matching jacket.
Meryl Streep knew way before everyone that she was going to strike gold on the night, thus she opted for a gold Lanvin dress.
BEST-DRESSED: Pixie-haired Michelle Williams gave us the most fashion forward look in her retro-meet-modern burnt orange Louis Vuitton gown, with a peplum skirt.
WORST-DRESSED: Penelope Cruz got it all wrong in her Armani off-the-shoulder frock. Too matronly.
Rocking her natural her, Viola Davis added a pop of colour on the red carpet in an emerald green Vera Wang corset gown.

Jennifer Aniston gives us the cold shoulder on the cover of the March issue of US InStyle magazine.
Wearing a Calvin Klein dress, the ‘Wanderlust’ actress strikes a pose for the lens of Michelangelo Di Battista on the cover.
Jennifer talks to the magazine about the most annoying misconception about her.
“Which one? There are so many. I would say the triangle with my ex-husband [Brad Pitt] — and that there’s a feud there. It’s constant. It’s a story headline that won’t go away, but it’s a money thing — [people make money off] a story that has nothing to do with reality”, Jennifer explains to InStyle.
