“People are more affected by how I look and dress myself than I think anyone would care to admit. I guess I’ll just have to start wearing power suits… Style isn’t when you buy yourself the most expensive things. On Sunday night (13 January), it was the turn of the 90+ members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) to make their top selections in television and film excellence at the 70th Annual Golden Globes. Actor-turned-filmmaker Ben Affleck was once again the top pick of the night, snagging both ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Picture (Drama)’ for his masterpiece ‘Argo‘. Other big winners of night included ‘Girls‘ creator Lena Dunham, everything ‘Homeland‘, Hugh Jackman, Christoph Waltz and Daniel Day-Lewis.

The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) handed out their picks for top cinematic excellence this season on Thursday night (10 January), at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. Following his Oscar snub in the morning, actor-turned-director Ben Affleck took top honours at the 18th Critics’ Choice Awards, scooping ‘Best Director’ for his efforts on ‘Argo‘, and ultimately ‘Best Picture’ for the Iranian hostage-crisis thriller. Other winners included Daniel Day Lewis (Best Actor), Jessica Chastain ( Best Actress), Philip Seymour Hoffman (Best Supporting Actor) and Anne Hathaway (Best Supporting Actress).
