On Sunday night (13 January), it was the turn of the 90+ members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) to make their top selections in television and film excellence at the 70th Annual Golden Globes. Actor-turned-filmmaker Ben Affleck was once again the top pick of the night, snagging both ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Picture (Drama)’ for his masterpiece ‘Argo‘. Last night (12 February) was music’s big night, with the 54th annual Grammy Awards taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. While the show was overshadowed by the shocking and sudden death of R&B diva Whitney Houston, the Grammys still attempted to put on a great show, that included a lovely Whitney Houston tribute by ‘American Idol‘ alum Jennifer Hudson. It was of course British goddess Adele‘s big night, winning all six of her nominations. Other big winners included Kanye West and Foo Fighters, with English producer Paul Epworth and indie folk band Bon Iver getting their moment to shine too.
