Last week we got a Tom Cruise — or should we say Stacee Jaxx– sighting, with his two female groupies, on the cover of the June Music Issue of W magazine(Checkout the cover here). Likewise, a shirtless, tattooed and long-haired Cruise continues to channel his ‘Rock Of Ages‘ character Stacee Jaxx in his rebellious editorial, lensed by Mario Sorrenti and styled by Arianne Phillips. Just like on the cover, models Edita Vilkeviciute and Abbey Lee Kershaw reprise their roles as Cruise’s untamed groupies.
The 49-year-old actor reveals to the magazine why he decided to do a musical at this point in his career.
“Kate [Holmes, Cruise’s wife] loves musicals. She sings and dances, and we kind of went through the history of musicals together. And Suri loved Hairspray. With kids, you watch everything over and over; I watched Hairspray 15 times with Suri. I thought Adam Shankman did a great job directing the movie, so I arranged to meet him and said, ‘Where’s our musical?’ He came back and said, ‘Rock of Ages’ We went and saw it in L.A., and for me…I didn’t know how to play the character like that. I had to find my own Stacee Jaxx”, Cruise explains to W.
