It was the fashion industry’s big Oscar night at the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala held in New York City last night. The star-studded event marked the opening of the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty Exhibition. The red carpet was a fashion frenzy, with stars such as Sarah Jessica Parker playing homage to the late designer, while others such as Rihanna and Diane Kruger opted for bold cuts and stars such as Jennifer Lopez and Kristen Stewart went for bright colours. Here is all the fashion at the 2011 Met Gala:
Grammy winner Alicia Keys arrived at the star-studded gala with husband/producer Swizz Beatz. Alicia is wearing a python embroidered silk dress and a brown leather jacket from Givenchy
Gossip Girl star and face of Chanel Blake Lively walked the red carpet at the Met Gala with the fashion label’s Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld. Any guess on what she’s wearing? Yes Chanel.
Ashley Greene of Twilight fame arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a strapless Donna Karan dress
R&B singer Beyonce looked gorgeous in an embroidered lace mermaid gown from Pucci and her best accessory for the night was husband Jay-Z.
Black Eyed Peas lead female vocalist Fergie ditched her usual little numbers on the red carpet for a longsleeve lace Marchesa gown, while husband Josh Duhamel suited up in Calvin Klein
American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez with husband Marc Anthony. She shimmers in a silk crisscross halter sheer Gucci dress.
“California King Bed” singer Rihanna dazzled in a one sleeve black lace high slit Stella McCartney dress. Riri paired the dress with Christian Louboutin platform sandals.
Singer Janelle Monae as it will be expected was in a pantsuit, but nice touch with the top hat and ruffled collar. She was dressed by Chanel.
Alexander McQueen Creative Director Sarah Burton looked like Kate Middleton’s Maid of Honour in white
Actress Diane Kruger is sexy in a thigh-high slitted Jason Wu sequin bodice and silk chiffon dress. The clutch she’s carrying is from Jimmy Choo
